"Call Me By Your Name" star Timothe Chalamet made a split-second appearance on the new HBO series from the director of the popular 2017 film, Luca Guadagnino - and his co-star, Armie Hammer, is next.

That's according to a report at IndieWire, where word of Chalamet's brief role as a "background extra" was posted. The actor appeared in the third hour of the eight-episode series, sharing a scene briefly with Chalamet's real-life friend Scott Mescudi, also known as recording artist Kid Cudi.

Mescudi plays the father of one of the series' two leads, Caitlin (Jordan Kristine Seamn), who experiments with gender identity and is best friends with Fraser (Jack Dylan Grazer), the son of the lesbian commander (Chlo Sevigny) of a U.S. Army base in Italy.

Unlike "Call Me By Your Name," which was set in the the '80s, "We Are Who We Are" takes place much closer to the present day, in 2016. But both projects focus on young people sorting out their identities - sexual and otherwise.

Hammer played Oliver, the older graduate student who was a love interest to Chalamet's teenaged character Elio in "CMBYN." Rumor has it that Hammer, too, will be a background extra in a future episode of "We Are Who We Are."

Though director Luca Guadagnino is busy with a number of projects, including a reported biopic of Hollywood hustler Scotty Bowers and a "Scarface" remake, he has said that he will helm a sequel to the 2017 drama that will bring Chalamet and Hammer back together as main protagonists.

As EDGE reported last April, Guadagnino spoke with Italian newspaper La Repubblica about the sequel, which is titled "Find Me," and said, "Of course, it was a great pleasure to work with Timothe Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Esther Garrel and the other actors. Everyone will be in the new movie."

The followup will be based on the novel by Andr Aciman, who also wrote the novel that "Call Me By Your Name" was based on.
