How Are Gambling Hubs Like Macao and Atlantic City Emulating Las Vegas' LGBTQ Marketing Strategies?

Las Vegas has made a name for itself as the Entertainment Capital of the World for a reason. It has always been a place that welcomes people from all walks of life and brings them together in a melting pot of thrills and excitement.

That includes LGBTQ people by the bucket load, and in 2016 it was found that the Nevada gambling hub was one of the top US destinations for LGBTQ travelers. Now other gambling hubs are aiming to follow suit and emulate the Las Vegas marketing strategy to bring in more LGBTQ players.

Modern Casino is All About Wider Demographics

Las Vegas has always been a frontrunner in the casino industry and has been ahead of the curve in its efforts to attract as wide a demographic as possible. The city may be best known for offering casino games, but there is also a vast array of entertainment options that complement the spinning reels and shuffling cards. Sin City is most famous for having boosted the careers of world-renowned musicians like Elvis and Frank Sinatra, but it has also helped to make LGBTQ acts become better known. There are plenty of popular night shows on the strip including "Drag Brunch" at Senor Frogs and "Chippendales: The Show."

The most striking thing about Vegas is how everyone is catered for. The online casino industry, which often replicates itself on traditional casinos, has taken inspiration from the city in this regard. Operators aim to people of all ages, genders, and personal interests by providing a diverse range of games. There are Vegas-inspired casino games, table games, live offerings, and endless lists of slots. Because the online branch of the casino is succeeding in its diversity, other real-world gambling hubs realize that they need to do more.

Gambling Hubs Need to Up Their Efforts to Bring in Diverse Players

Atlantic City and Macao are already established as major worldwide gambling hubs, but it could be argued that they don't quite have the same notoriety as Vegas for being loved by people the world over. For this reason, they could decide to follow on from the Nevada gambling hub in their marketing to LGBTQ groups in an effort to appeal to a wider demographic.

There are plenty of LGBTQ friendly locations in Atlantic City now, with the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa being one of the most notable places for these groups in the coastal gambling hub. The city was a haven for gay people fifty years ago, but this went into decline for a while. It seems that in following on from Las Vegas' lead Atlantic City is getting back to where it was before. It could be argued that Macao needs to catch up with these U.S. locations if it wants to continue as the leading superpower in casino gambling. It may have the most opulent and rich casinos, but it is definitely the least diverse of the three locations.

Las Vegas is clearly leading the way when it comes to marketing to LGBTQ people, and this is reflected in the number of visitors each year. It seems that Atlantic City is getting back to where it once was, but Macao is lagging behind when it comes to diversity.
