Pop Culturing: 5 2021 TV Shows to Check Out

It's almost time to put 2020 to bed (finally!) and as we do, it's always fun to look ahead to see what's coming around the corner. Though the pandemic has altered much of Hollywood, the TV churning machine isn't slowing down (much) and there are still a handful of exciting shows coming out in the next few months. Below is a breakdown of some series to keep your eyes on.

"Dickinson" Season 2
Where to watch: Apple TV+
Airdate: Jan. 8+

Haliee Steinfeld stars as the titular Massachusetts poet and in its first season, "Dickinson" took a lot of liberty with Emily's story. Nevertheless, it was a fun watch thanks to its bend on history, sharing more seminaries with Sofia Coppola's "Marie Antoinette" than a typical biopic. Season 2 will hopefully explore the fallout from Season 1, especially the love triangle between Emily, her brother Austin (Adrian Enscoe) and his bride/her BFF, Sue (Ella Hunt).

"Servant" Season 2
Where to watch: Apple TV+
Airdate: Jan. 15

M. Night Shyamalan has found recent box office success with his recent films "The Visit," "Split" and "Glass," but his first TV show, "Servant," is perhaps the best thing he's been a part of in the past few years. Serving as an executive producer, the tense show, created by Tom Basgallop, follows a young couple Dorothy (Lauren Ambrose) and Sean (Toby Kebbell) who lost their baby. After a therapist suggests Dorothy take care of a realistic baby doll, she enlists Leanne (Nell Tiger Free), a mysterious nanny when the baby comes to life. Season 1 ended with a climatic finale so there's no telling what M. Night and Basgallop have up their sleeves for its second season.

"WandaVision" Season 1
Where to watch: Disney+
Airdate: Jan. 15+

After a bit of a delay (thanks to the pandemic), the strange new Marvel series "WandaVision" finally makes its way to Disney+ on Jan. 15. The six-part season will be the first entry in to Marvel's Phase Four era after Phase Three finished with "Avengers End Game." The new show stars Elizabeth Olsen, reprising her magical Scarlet Witch (a.k.a. Wanda Maximoff) character, and Vision (Paul Bettany), an android, who live a quaint suburban life... that seems to good to be true. And it might be. The couple appear to be in a "Leave it to Beaver" universe as they try to hide their powers. Not much is known about the show but it will definitely be one of the most-talked about shows of 2021.

"Search Party" Season 4
Where to watch: HBO Max
Airdate: TBA

Fans had to wait years for Season 3 of "Search Party," a TBS dark comedy about a group of annoying millennials who get tangled up in some intense crimes. But Season 4 comes just a few months after Season 3, which debuted on HBO Max. Though a release date hasn't been confirmed, the show is said to hit the new streaming service in January and it stars Alia Shawkat, John Reynolds, John Early, Meredith Hanger, and more. Judging from the trailer, expect a lot of court room drama!

"Batwoman" Season 2
Where to watch: The CW
Airdate: Jan. 17

Fans of "Batwoman" will be seeing a big change on the CW show's second season: Batwoman will be played by a different actor. That's because Ruby Rose, who played the openly lesbian hero Kate Kane, abruptly decided to leave the series. No worries, though, as Javicia Leslie was cast as Ryan Wilder, a new character who will pick up Batwoman's cape. Season 2 will find Ryan likely facing Kate's father Jacob Kane (Dougray Scott) and other new threats. There's also supervillain Hush (Gabriel Mann) a.k.a. Tommy Elliot, a real estate mogul and former childhood friend of Bruce Wayne.
