Watch: RuPaul Promises to Shake Things Up in Season 13
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Happy Ru Year! Season 13 of "RuPaul's Drag Race" arrives on Friday with a big splash. Not only will the premiere be seen on VH1, but will be simulcast on The CW, MTV, MTV2, PopTV and Logo. That's a lot of "Drag Race" to go around.
To promote the new season, "VH1 has given audiences a 10-minute preview of the season premiere which includes some socially distanced changes for the judges and a surprise for the competing queens," reports Deadline.
"It's a new year and a new season, with all new surprises." says RuPaul at the start of the preview.
The clip includes the arrival of New Yorker Kandy Muse, who describes her drag style as "if you took a sex doll and threw her in the Bronx, that is literally me." He is joined by blonde Joey Jay from Phoenix, AZ, decked out in red chicken feathers, who calls herself "the dumbest bitch you'll ever meet."
But as the two trade barbs, they are interrupted by RuPaul, who instructs them to head to the mainstage, now reconfigured to adhere to COVID standards. The judge's panel is stretched out with plexiglas panels between Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley and Ross Mathews (who brought a squeegee).
"Tonight we are doing things just a little differently," RuPaul tells them. "For the first time in 'Drag Race' herstory, we're kicking off the season with six Lipsynchs for Your Lives. Now some will shantay and some will sashay away."
