Fashion Designer Alexander Wang Accused of Sexual Assault

A-list fashion designer Alexander Wang has been accused of sexual assault by several male and transgender models, according to a recent report by Women's Wear Daily, some even accusing the award-winning designer of lacing bottled water with MDMA (ecstasy).
The accusations first appeared in an Instagram post from shitmodelmgmt, which regularly calls out disparities in the fashion and modeling industries, claiming that Wang is "an alleged sexual predator."
This isn't the first time Wang's actions have been scrutinized. Model Owen Mooney shared via TikTok that Wang "groped him at a club in 2017" and eight additional victims have contacted @shitmodelmgmt with stories of sexual misconduct, according to The Daily Beast
The Model Alliance, a New York City-based nonprofit that promotes "the fair treatment, equal opportunity, and more sustainable practices in the fashion industry," responded with solidarity, stating "the fashion industry's lack of transparency and accountability leaves all models vulnerable to abuse, regardless of their sex or gender identity."
While no legal actions have been taken yet, attorney Harley Lewin (who has worked with Wang in the past on intellectual property cases) shared his perspective with WWD, stating, "I have been on both sides of these situations. There are compelling reasons why one treats any allegation of misconduct with respect and with credence and credibility. People have to come forward and perhaps expose themselves to ridicule or other equally nasty things that happen to people on the Internet," he said. "The other side to it is there is often a level of innocence or stupidity, frankly. Old-school people acting old-school, not being sensitive without the intent, but nonetheless stepping out of line."
