'Canada's Drag Race' Judge Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman Joins Disney+'s 'Doogie Howser' Reboot

Out actor Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman has joined the cast of Disney+'s "Doogie Howser" reboot called "Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.," reports Variety.
Set in Hawaii, the new show follows Lahela "Doogie" Kameāloha (Peyton Elizabeth Lee), "a mixed race 16-year-old girl who is a doctor, Variety writes, adding that the "10-episode half-hour comedy follows Kameāloha as she juggles a budding medical career and life as a teenager. Guiding Lahela (and also complicating things) is her family, including her spit-fire Irish mother (Rose Perkins) who's also her supervisor at the hospital, and her Hawaiian 'Local Boy' father struggling to accept that his daughter is no longer his little girl."
Bowyer-Chapman will play Charles, a Midwest transplant to Hawaii, who is also a resident at the hospital where Lahela works and "is part of the cool adult world that looks so awesome to her," Variety writes.
As previously reported, Neil Patrick Harris, who starred on "Doogie Howser" in the late 80s when he was a kid, will not be part of the reboot.
Bowyer-Chapman, a judge on "Canada's Drag Race" who has also appeared on "American Horror Story" and "UnREAL," took to Instagram to react to news of his casting, simply writing "mahalo," the Hawaiian expression for gratitude.
