Baggy's Back as Skinny Jeans Take a Backseat to Retro Denim Trend

Maybe it's one step beyond the sweatpants we've been wearing for nearly a year. Or our desire to connect with our inner Ross Geller. Whatever the reason, baggy jeans are making a comeback, CNN Business reports.
Levi's is the leading the way in a light wash that retails for $79.50. "Worn and loved by a generation, Levi's Silvertab brings back the oversized style and attitude of the 1990s," says the product description. "You'll love the comfortable baggy silhouette of these old-school jeans."
"I think we're kind of leading this trend to some extent," stated Levi Strauss (LEVI) CEO Chip Bergh in a call with industry analysts in late January. "The line that we launched [is] a loose-fit line this past season. It's in our stores now [for] both men and women. It's sort of a loose, straight fit, and it's off to a very, very fast start."
Of course, it doesn't hurt to have a celebrity like Jennifer Lopez sporting the look. The A-lister was recently seen sporting baggy jeans and a "Love" sweatshirt in Miami.
Styling is everything, though – there's a fine line between retro and wretched. Who What Wear recently highlighted several celebrities' styling choices, which may impact how the average consumer pulls together their denim looks this season. Katie Holmes paired her baggies with Common Projects sneakers; Bella Hadid sported a red T-shirt and Alyx backpack; Hailey Bieber went all out in Vivienne Westwood; Whitney Peak stayed classic with a pair of Vans.
