Watch: Lindsay Lohan Asks College Student to Remove Moving Coming Out Video From Social Media

Lindsay Lohan has asked that a viral video she recorded encouraging college student to come out to her parents be taken down from social media, Variety reports.

Alana, a 20-year-old bisexual student at U.C. Berkley, went onto Cameo – a platform where one can pay celebrities to record personalized messages – and hired the "Parent Trap" star to record a coming out video on her behalf, for Alana's parents.

Instead, Lohan recorded a moving video encouraging Alana to come out to her parents herself, saying:

"Hi, Alana, it's Lindsay Lohan. I know that you are about to take a very big step in telling your parents who you truly are and what you want them to accept of you – and I think you should do it yourself. I think that coming from you, you'll feel a lot of power and strength. And it's important that you are who you truly are, and that you love yourself and that you can live by that and tell your parents that."

Alana shared the video on TikTok and Twitter on Sunday, with media outlets such as E! Online and People featuring stories on the viral video. Then, Alana received a message from Lohan's Cameo account asking her to take the video down: "Hi! Just wanted to ask if you could take the cameo down because it was private for your use only." Variety confirmed that the message did, indeed, come from Lohan though the actress hasn't commented further on the matter.

Cameo said that its users have permission to share videos as they wish.

Alana, confused as to why Lohan would want the video removed, left it up on social media, saying "My initial reaction was, 'I know there are so many people out there who need to hear this message, who are also struggling whether or not to come out – whether or not to be true to themselves.' I didn't think it was gonna blow up – whoever saw it, that was enough for me."

As press around Lohan's video began to quickly heat up, Alana – who was in class at the time – realized she needed to come out to her parents before they read it in the news. Thankfully, Alana says, they were supportive. Even though her coming out didn't go as she had planned, she says the experience gave her what she ultimately wanted in the end.
