Marvel & DC Comics Honor Pride Month with Rollout of LGBTQ Anthologies

Both DC and Marvel have huge plans for 2021 Pride, with both comics publishers announcing a variety of LGBTQ anthology stories set to release this June.

For DC, this came in the form of Pride #1, an LGBT focussed anthology comic centering on various characters from the publishers large library.

According to Deadline, among the character's DC's writers have been developing stories for, the likes of Batwoman, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Renee Montoya, Midnighter, and Aqualad are set to appear in the 80 page book due out this June.

The anthology will also feature profiles of all of DCTV's LGBTQ characters, as well as an introduction to the DC universe's first trans superhero Dreamer, in the form of a story written by her on-screen actor Nicole Maines from the CW's "Supergirl."

Additionally, Marvel Entertainment also announced their own Pride focussed anthology this afternoon, with Marvel's Voices: Pride #1.

Earlier today, Marvel made a statement regarding the upcoming project, expressing their enthusiasm for their artists' vision.

"Following in the footsteps of the mega-popular Marvel's Voices: Indigenous VOICES and Marvel's Voices: Legacy, Marvel's Voices: Pride #1 will be Marvel's first-ever queer-centered special spotlighting Marvel's growing tapestry of LGBTQ+ characters", the company stated.

Marvel's anthology will largely focus on its roster of X-Men characters, featuring the likes of Mystique, Iceman, and Daken throughout the comic.

Both books are expected to be out by early to mid-June.
