Watch: Bowen Yang Nails the Gayest Character this 'SNL' Season with Hilarious Take on Titanic's Iceberg

"Saturday Night Live" had a very transgressive show this past Saturday night with a funny parody of the lesbian drama "Ammonite" and Kid Cudi appearing in a floral dress, but what was the gayest moment came when Bowen Yang, one of the show's out performers, appeared on the "Weekend Update" segment as the gay iceberg that sank the Titanic.

The skit was prompted by the 100th anniversary this week of the sinking of the legendary liner in the North Atlantic, an event memorialized to modern audiences from the film "Titanic" in 1999. Made up in icy hues and wearing the peak of an iceberg on his head, Yang was on the show to promote his character's "hyperpop EDM nu-disco fantasia" album, titled "MUSIC."

But instead "Weekend Update" host Colin Jost wanted to talk about the night of April 15, 1912, when the supposedly "unsinkable" ocean liner sank after hitting the iceberg on its maiden voyage, to which a flustered Yang responded: "That was a really long time ago. I've done a lot of reflecting to try and move past it. It's one very small part me, but there's so much going on beneath the surface that you can't see."

Taking exception to the question with, "I think my publicist is very clear. I am not here to talk about the sinking."

When pressed by Jost, he continued in a heightened voice: "Okay, fine, you want to do this? Let's do this," his iceberg said. "First, you came to where I live, and you hit me. It was midnight, I was chilling, then I hear this Irish cacophony behind me... And before I turn around and go, 'What?' half my ass is gone – which was my best feature – and I'm literally injured. But all anybody cares about is that, like, 40 or 50 people died or whatever."

When pointed out that 1,500 people died, Yang responded: "Why you are attacking me? You said you would be my Oprah, Colin."

Adding, "I think they're going to make a movie about this."

He ended the segment with singing a bit of his new single, "Lover Boy."

The reviews and comments were over the top in praise of Yang, as has the video's reach. "The SNL clip of him on Twitter racked up some 4 million views in its first 36 hours. And deservedly so," wrote Decider.

"Yang's iceberg felt revelatory, like the first time we saw Stefon. Something surreal, yet timed perfectly, and simply silly enough to crack everyone up.

Or as co-head writer Anna Drezen described it: 'Genuine stupid joy." She's also correct about Yang, too: He is "The Celine Dion of comedy. He delivers!!!'"
