With Marvel fans hotly anticipating the next story arc of the candidly crude superhero, Deadpool, actor Ryan Reynolds is reportedly asking studio heads to deeper explore the hero's sexuality.
As reported by We Got This Covered, Reynolds, who played the superhero in "Deadpool" and "Deadpool 2" is reportedly asking Marvel president Kevin Feige to "make Deadpool openly bi" in "Deadpool 3."
"Despite a few references and jokes here and there, the Merc with the Mouth has been portrayed as heterosexual in the two films we've had from Fox so far," We Got This Covered reports. "But this is apparently something that Ryan Reynolds wants to fix now that the character has found a new home at Marvel Studios."
Deadpool as bisexual isn't a stretch. In the comic books, there are hints and references to his pansexuality. However, in the first two movies, his relationship and love for girlfriend Vanessa is a core part of the storyline. But with news that the character will not be in "Deadpool 3," it might be time for Deadpool to come out.
Reynolds also opened up about the character's sexuality back in 2018, reports Variety.
"I certainly think that this universe...needs to represent and reflect the world in very real ways," Reynolds said at the time when he was asked by a fan if Deadpool movies will feature more gay or bi characters. "The great thing about Deadpool is that we're allowed to do things that other superhero movies don't necessarily do. It's something that I'd love to see more of, certainly through Wade, certainly through this universe because it's something that we're building out more."
What do you think? Is it time for Deadpool to play the full field of his sexuality?
