READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Chef Jon Kung has made a name for himself over the last year thanks to TikTok, earning over 1 million followers on the popular social media app thanks to his quick and usually easy recipes he's able to share in about 60 seconds. (Give him a follow here.)
Since July 2020, Kung has shared his take on "third-culture cuisine" to his growing TikTok audience, Eater reported earlier this year, adding that the Detroit-based chef "shares everything from must-have Chinese condiments for the pantry to lessons on poaching and pasteurizing eggs...Kung's cross-cultural recipes are variations on classic dishes. He's whipped up curry macaroni and cheese, developed a new spin on fried chicken and waffles, and shown off a spicy twist on the trendy feta pasta for the cameras."
"A lot of my third-culture cooking videos have really resonated with younger kids, many from multiracial or multiethnic families," he told the wesbite. "I know what it's like to not be completely settled in the place you live. I was expressing that through my food."
In one of his latest videos, Kung shares a cool noodle recipe "perfect for a hot day."
"After a long run in the heat and humidity, one thing I like to treat myself to is a bowl of cold soba noodles," he says in the video before explain how to make the meal.
