Fashion editor Richard Buckley, and husband to fashion designer Tom Ford, has died. He was 72.
People magazine reports that they received as statement from Ford's representatives that said Buckley, a writer and journalist, "died of natural causes after a long illness" on Sunday.
"It is with great sadness that Tom Ford announces the death of his beloved husband of 35 years, Richard Buckley," the statement reads. "Richard passed away peacefully at their home in Los Angeles with Tom and their son Jack by his side."
People reports that Ford, 60, met Buckley at a fashion show in 1986. They tied the knot in 2014.
Buckley worked a number of publications, including New York Magazine, Women's Ware Daily and Vanity Fair. He also served as the European editor of Mirabella magazine and also contributed to Italian Vogue going on to become the editor-in-chief of Vogue Hommes International, the outlet notes.
The couple are also parents to a son, Alexander John Buckley Ford, 8.
Back in 2016, the designer opened up about his relationship with Buckley when speaking with People at the time.
"Our eyes locked and within a month we were living together," he said. "We have been together ever since."
Ford added that he believes they first met while riding an elevator, and he knew by the end of the short trip that they were meant to be together.
"By the time that elevator landed on the ground floor I thought, 'You're the one.' That's it. Click. Sold," he said. "It was literally love at first sight."
