Out 'So You Think You Can Dance' Choreographer Accused of Sexual Harassment

Travis Wall, the out choreographer who won two Emmys for his work on reality competition show "So You Think You Can Dance," has been accused of sexually harassing a younger dancer in the course of his work with Canadian dance company Break The Floor, The Wrap reported.

Citing a story broken by newspaper the Toronto Star (story is behind a paywall), The Wrap said that Wall, 34, has been "suspended from" the "company's traveling tours amid an investigation" into the allegations.

"Travis will not be traveling with BTF until we've had the opportunity for a third-party to look into these allegations. We take this very seriously and will take further action if necessary," the company announced on Instagram.

The Toronto Star's story said that "Eight former staff and students allege BTF employees, famous in the dance world, initiated sexual conversations, propositioned them for sex, sent them nude photos, sexually harassed them at work or engaged in sexual relationships with them."

One male student, Myles Lavallee, claimed Wall "groomed" him in 2008, when Lavallee was 16 and Wall was 20.

"Lavallee, who says he became Wall's dance assistant in 2008, says Wall made sexual advances on him when the two were staying overnight at Lavallee's parents house in Arizona while teaching a dance course nearby."

"Lavallee told the Star that Wall gave him ecstasy that night, and 'we were doing hand massages, which just creeps me out now,'" The Wrap added.

The Toronto Star story said that Wall made overtures to Lavallee, but Lavallee made it clear he was not interested in a sexual relationship with him. The Wrap summarized that, after a time, "Wall cut off communication with Lavallee, which Lavallee believes was a direct result of him avoiding a sexual relationship with Wall."

Wall was only one of the company's staffers who was alleged to have acted inappropriately. Lavallee also claims that another older dancer acted in a sexually inappropriate manner towards him, also in 2008, and that dancer now works for Break the Floor.

Another BTF staffer was accused of sending nude photos of himself to a younger female dancer.

The company posted on Instagram about how the "dance community has long dealt with issues of inappropriate power dynamics as well as overt unacceptable behavior," and went on to say, "In the past, Break The Floor's policies and procedures did not focus on these issues as closely as they could have. In light of this, over the last 18 months, we have made substantial strides to ensure BTR is a better and safer environment for everyone."

Wall responded to the Toronto Star's article by saying in a statement that "the accusations against me are false," The Wrap reported.
