Out Singer Troye Sivan Cast in TV Series 'The Idol'

Out recording artist Troye Sivan has been cast along with Tunde Adebimpe and Anne Heche in The Weeknd's upcoming HBO series "The Idol," Pitchfork reported.
"Co-written and co-created with 'Euphoria' creator Sam Levinson and the Weeknd's production partner Reza Fahim, the show will star the Weeknd," Pitchfork detailed.
"HBO describes 'The Idol' as 'set against the backdrop of the music industry, centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol,' " Rolling Stone reported.
HBO vice president of programming praised the series, saying, "When the multi-talented Abel 'The Weeknd' Tesfaye, Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson brought us 'The Idol,' it was clear their subversive, revelatory take on the cult of the music industry was unlike anything HBO had ever done before."
Though no detailed character information is available yet for "The Idol," Sivan has appeared in films before, playing the part of a young Wolverine in 2009's "X-Men Origins," among other roles. As for Adebimpe, he played a gay character, Mo, in the 2015 film "The Nasty Baby," in which Mo and his husband, Freddy (Sebastián Silva) pursued parenthood.
Also joining the case are Lily-Rose Depp, Nico Hiraga, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Melanie Liburd, Suzanna Son, and Steve Zissis.
