Shawn Mendes Covers Interview Magazine and Gay Twitter Goes Wild with Thirst
Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes opened up to fellow pop star John Mayer in a wide-ranging interview, but it's the accompanying photo spread that's got Gay Twitter in a frenzy of thirst.
In their conversation, Mendes and Mayer discussed the craft of songwriting, Mendes' latest studio album, "Shawn," and his upcoming tour (a dozen dates at small venues where Mendes plans to play the entire album).
The photos have Mendes wearing a distressed yellow T-shirt getting his hair tousled while he flashes his most engaging grin; leafing through a copy of Interview Magazine in the same yellow T and boxer shorts; showing off his abs as a dark blue T-shirt rides up; sprawled in an office chair in a crisp white shirt, red tie, bare feet, and blue jeans; fastening the fly of a pair of khaki trousers and wearing a cozy, charcoal-gray sweater; posing in a long coat and dark sweater, cigarette in hand; shirtless, with his midriff exposed and just a hit of low-slung jeans visible in the photo, as he eats a bagel; shirtless, with his abs rippling, the fly of his blue jeans undone, and a leather belt hanging from one shoulder; and shirtless once more as he hoists a video camera on his shoulder.
The looks circulated as publications and fans alike shared them on X (formerly Twitter).
Fans offered their commentary as the images went viral.
"save me interview magazine shawn mendes save me," one person panted.
"the hottest thing a man could do is be shawn mendes," another declared.
Fans were equally thirsty in their responses to Mendes' post of the cover image on Instagram.
The new album, due out Nov. 15, features 12 tracks and comes after Mendes took a break. As previously reported, Mendes took to Instagram in August to share, "2 years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn't step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift."
