EDGE Interview: Volunteer, Activist & Plus-Size JFF Creator, Rex Behr is a Sex-Positive Role Model

If you're looking at gay adult content online and all you see are 20-something's with athletic builds and tropical tans, you're missing out on a whole other side of the sex industry; arguably one that is more diverse and interesting.
Take for instance Rex Behr, a JustFor.Fans (JFF) creator who isn't the slim cookie-cutter twink so prevalent in the industry these days. Behr is a Canadian plus-size bisexual creator who describes himself self as a "BHM bear." He has been in the business for a decade and has over many videos under his belt but he is also a regular guy with an important day job and a life away from the cameras, lights, and tripods in his bedroom.
"Outside of creating content, I juggle a regular day job for a major nonprofit, community activism, and spend time with family and friends," he tells EDGE.
He says that he is passionate about the adult industry, particularly for plus-sized male creators like himself. "I enjoy pushing boundaries when it comes to visibility and body diversity. My content is a mix of solo and partnered performances, all of which reflect my own kinks and authentic sexual identity."
Rex chose the JFF platform because he says they are committed to their creators. They give performers control over their content and allow them to build genuine relationships with their fans. That's what sets them apart from other platforms. "It's also a space where niche performers like myself, who don't always fit the mainstream mold, can thrive," he says. "Plus, the revenue model is more equitable compared to some other platforms–creators are truly valued there."
He's been making adult videos for 12 years, starting with solo content on XTube. He has since made appearances on other platforms. "After taking a short break back in 2015-2016 while I was in a monogamous relationship that sadly didn't work out, I got back into it again and expanded my presence on sites like JFF, OnlyFans, ManyVids, and Pornhub."
Producing, filming, and editing a video is an arduous process. It can take time away from socializing and keeping commitments. In Rex's case, he has a full-time job, volunteers, and spends time with his family. But his fans are important too and he tries to make at least one video a month.
"Quality is more important to me than quantity, so I take my time to make sure the content is something I'm proud of," he explains.
If given the chance, Rex says he would go mainstream to work with a major studio. He says he would love to expand his audience and learn from more established industry professionals. It would also give him a chance to collaborate with some big names. He already has a few in mind.
"For the dream guy, I'd love to work with Trip Richards–he's a fantastic performer and brings a lot of amazing energy to his scenes," he says. "As for the dream girl, Angela White is iconic. Her confidence, sex appeal, and presence on screen are unmatched."
Rex might be on his way to booking those two gigs if he persists long enough, and he doesn't seem to be giving up any time soon. His taste for exhibitionism has always been a kink. Privately, he used to share explicit videos of himself among a group of friends and they encouraged him to go further especially since he is a larger man. He took that encouragement to heart and took the leap.
"After a hiatus during my aforementioned relationship, I came back to the industry with a deeper sense of who I am. I'm all about body positivity and sexual confidence and sharing that with the world feels natural to me."
That confidence is partly why he believes his JFF page stands out. He credits it to his body type because you don't see a lot of plus-size male representation in the industry, and if it is, it's not celebrated. Diversity has gotten better, even bisexuality. But Rex doesn't think it's as authentic as it should be. The mainstream still favors the young, fit, gay, athletic types. Plus-sized men are a rarity
"I'd love to see more creators who are plus-sized and openly bi, showing that desire and attraction are more than one-size-fits-all," Rex contends. "The industry is evolving, but we still have work to do to make it truly inclusive."
There is room for everybody in the adult content community. That is the beauty of the medium. As long as everyone is of legal age, and no one is getting hurt, the possibilities are endless. Still, adult content does more than appease those who are watching, it allows freedom to its creators who may have gone through life ashamed to express themselves artistically.
"My content is all about embracing who I am–big-bodied, bisexual, confident–and showing that everybody is desirable," says Rex. "That's something I feel my fans really connect with."
