"Say Nothing" Season 1
Historical drama "Say Nothing" is a limited series that tells the "gripping story of murder and memory in Northern Ireland during The Troubles." Based on real events and a book of the same name (Dua Lipa interviewed the author of "Say Nothing" earlier this year for her book club), the show tells the story of various IRA (Irish Republican Army) members, exploring "the extremes people will go to in the name of their beliefs, the way a deeply divided society can tip over into armed conflict, the long shadow of radical violence, and the emotional and psychological costs of a code of silence." Queer actor Lola Petticrew leads as the infamous activist Dolours Price who, alongside her sister, Marian (Hazel Doupe) became strong symbols of radical politics.
"Say Nothing" Season 1 premieres November 14 on Hulu.
"The Sex Lives of College Girls" Season 3
Ruby Cruz ("Bottoms") joins the cast at Essex College this season, in which we'll say goodbye to Reneé Rapp's character, Leighton. The new season of "The Sex Lives of College Girls" follows this eclectic collection of college students on their adventures in making big changes, making out with hot boys, and making mistakes with their friends. Whitney (Alyah Chanelle Scott) is using coffee bean life-hacks to cope with academic pressure; Bela (Amrit Kaur) is sleeping with the school mascot; Kimberly (Pauline Chalamet) swiped right on Whitney's dad, and her new professor is played by out comedian Tig Notaro. It really could go anywhere from here! The show is constantly surprising us, and we hope Cruz's presence brings a fun new queer storyline into the show.
"The Sex Lives of College Girls" Season 3 premieres November 22 on Max.
"Cruel Intentions" Season 1
The 1999 cult classic film has been reimagined for the small-screen streaming experience. While it looks and feels very different, this series still concerns a pair of rich step-siblings who have carefully crafted their social status at college. When a hazing incident threatens their standing, step-siblings Caroline (Sarah Catherine Hook, of lesbian vampire show "First Kill") and Lucius (Zac Burgess), make a plan to seduce the U.S. Vice President's daughter, Annie (played by bisexual actor and standout star of the "Gossip Girl" reboot, Savannah Lee Smith), in order to keep the sororities and fraternities from being shut down. Of course, things get very dramatic, and their escapades escalate an already tense circumstance into a campus-wide conflict – along with, if the trailer is any reflection, queer kisses of many varieties.
"Cruel Intentions" Season 1 premieres November 21 on Prime Video.
"Transmitzvah"
This film follows Mumy (played by trans actress Penélope Guerrero), a famous Yiddish singer who returns to her childhood neighborhood in Buenos Aires to confront her family and her past. Per Variety, "Transmitzvah" is a "flamboyant musical comedy" described as a "love story between siblings." After a family tragedy, Mumy returns to her hometown, where she loses her voice. "Although she has found fame and success, Mumy still struggles with other aspects of adulthood and her close relationship with her brother Eduardo holds the key to greater maturity." The transition in "Transmitzvah" is not about physical change, director Daniel Burnam told Variety: "It's a film about the transition of our lives, which we refer to as childhood to adulthood, but is actually throwing ourselves into the abyss of nothingness, of identity, of learning who we are and what we are here for." The film features several song-and-dance numbers that "fuel its lively and energetic storyline."
"Transmitzvah" premieres November 22 on Netflix.
"The Merry Gentlemen"
Britt Robertson and Chad Michael Murray star in this romantic comedy about a "steamy musical revue that just might save Christmas." Netflix invites us "to see all the hip-thrusting moves and heart-melting romance" that this hot holiday film offers. It's a tale as old as time: To save her parents' small-town performing arts venue, Ashley (Robertson) stages a raunchy, all-male, Christmas-themed performance. "Ashley, decides to take her skill as a dancer and choreographer," Robertson told Tudum, "and marries that with some hot dudes at the bar to make 'The Merry Gentlemen' show. She may or may not save the bar ..."
Chad Michael Murray and his fellow dancers reportedly took dance rehearsals very seriously. We can't wait to see the results of all their... ahem, hard work.
"The Merry Gentlemen" premieres November 20 on Netflix.
"The Madness" Season 1
Out actor and stylish powerhouse, Colman Domingo, stars as media pundit Muncie Daniels in this political thriller and murder mystery. "The Madness" follows Daniels, who must prove his innocence and fight for his life after he is accused of a murder which he stumbled upon while deep in the woods. "As the walls close in, Muncie strives to reconnect with his estranged family – and his lost ideals – in order to survive."
"The Madness" premieres November 28 on Netflix.
