Special Exhibition at Provincetown Museum

The Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum (PMPM) is proud to announce that it will be exhibiting world renowned art treasures for public viewing at a special winter opening.
On Valentines Day/President's Day weekend, The PMPM will open its doors to the public with free admission to view five paintings that are on loan from the Town of Provincetown Art Collection.
These incredible works of art are on loan and being exhibited for the first time since the closing of Provincetown Town Hall due to the current renovation project.
The exhibition features the 1915 masterpiece by Charles W. Hawthorne, "The Crew of the Philomena." Other works on display are by artists Max Bohm, Frederick Judd Waugh, William Halsall and George Elmer Browne.
Hawthorne established the Cape Cod School of Art in 1899 and taught hundreds of artists who traveled to Provincetown to study with him until his untimely death in 1930 at the age of 58. Bohm was Hawthorne's teaching assistant.
Guests visiting on Valentine's Day weekend will also have an opportunity to see the Pilgrim Monument lit up in the color red in honor of the Cape Goes Red Campaign.
The museum will be open to the public with free admission during this special exhibition on Saturday February 14 and Sunday February 15 from 12 pm to 4 pm.
After the special winter event, the paintings will continue to be exhibited when the museum opens for the season on April 1, 2009 and will remain at the museum until the renovation of the Town Hall is complete.
