On Monday, Lady Gaga shared "Do What U Want," featuring R&B icon R. Kelly as a promo single, with the intention of releasing "Venus" as the official second single for her upcoming album "ARTPOP," on Oct. 28. But due to the success of "Do What U Want," Mother Monster announced on Tuesday that that track would serve as the official second single for "ARTPOP."

"...we are overwhelmed by the worldwide response + excitement for DO WHAT U WANT feat. R KELLY & are happy to announce it as 2nd Single!" Gaga wrote on Facebook. "Its time to band together + spread the word as 11.11 ARTPOP approaches! Thank u for creating this unexpected turn I feel very blessed today."

The pop singer also told her little monsters that she would still release "Venus" on Oct. 28 and promised to put out a snippet of the track on Friday.

This isn't the first time Gaga has turned a promo single into an official single. The same thing happened during the "Born This Way"- era when the musician shared "The Edge of Glory." Due to the track's success it became the record's third single, reaching the top 10 on Billboard across the world and hitting the No. 3 spot in the U.S.

"Do What U Want" was first heard in a Best Buy commercial last week but was released on iTunes on Monday. The track skyrocketed on iTunes' charts, beating out new singles by Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. The YouTube audio video of the song has nearly 3 million views.

The cut received positive reviews with Popjustice giving it eight out of 10 noting its similarities to Gaga's impeccable mini-LP "The Fame Monster." The New York Daily News rated the song four out of five and said the "music provides its own quirk. To Match the R&B-style beat - and the guest appearance by R. Kelly - Gaga finds a new soul edge to her voice. She belts, scoring a hit in every sense." Though Entertainment Weekly gave "Do What U Want" a negative review, saying Gaga's vocals did not work well with R. Kelly's voice.

Gaga and DJ White Shadow, who also worked on the singer's last single "Applause," produced "Do What U Want."

The singer has also shared snippets of other "ARTPOP" tracks, including "G.U.Y." and the album's title track. Listen to those two snippets and "Do What U Want" below:
