NJ Restaurant & Lesbian Waitress Make 'Joint Decision' -- She's Fired

Officials from a New Jersey restaurant announced via Facebook that the lesbian waitress who allegedly lied that a family left her an anti-gay note in lieu of a tip, is no longer in their employ, the Huffington Post reports.

Last week, Dayna Morales was suspended from her job as a waitress at Gallop Asian Bistro in Bridgewater, N.J., but according to the restaurant's Facebook page, Morales' employment was terminated over the weekend.

"The Gallop Asian Bistro has taken seriously the allegations made by Ms. Dayna Morales, and those made against her," Gallop Asian Bistro officials wrote on Facebook on Dec. 7. "Despite news reports to the contrary, this is not a simple, straight-forward matter and we have conducted our own internal investigation. The results of that investigation are inconclusive as to exactly what happened between Ms. Morales and the customers that night."-

"However, in light of the investigation and recent events, both Ms. Morales and Gallop Asian Bistro have made a joint decision that Ms. Morales will no longer continue her employment at our restaurant. We wish her well in the future," the post reads. "Overall, this has been an unfortunate incident for Gallop Asian Bistro, our employees, and our customers. We are dedicated to providing excellent Asian cuisine and superior service. We have the utmost faith in our management and staff and we welcome the opportunity to serve our customers."

Morales, 22, made headlines last month when she told the media that a family left her an anti-gay note instead of a tip on a $93.55 bill. After the story gained national attention, the family came forward and provided a local news station with the copy of their bill, proving they left an $18 tip. They said they'd never leave a note like the one Morales alleges, and that they actually support marriage equality.

"I'm sorry but I cannot tip because I don't agree with your lifestyle & how you live your life," the note read.

As the news report of the alleged incident went viral, Morales, an ex-Marine, started accepting money from strangers around the country who sympathized with her. The waitress claimed she planned to donate the funds to the Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit that helps severely wounded veterans, and that the managers at Gallop Asian Bistro would match her donations.

It was reported last week, however, that Morales, who was dishonorably discharged from the Marines for reportedly not showing up for drills, had yet to donate anything to the organization.

According to NBC New York 4, at least three people who sent Morales money via PayPal have received refunds. Gallop Asian Bistro's general manager, Byron Lapola, told CNN that any money that came into the restaurant will still be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
