Penis Shaped Skate Park Raises Eyebrows in Wales

Urology and architecture meet in the British Isles.

A skate park in South Wales has become the source of laughs for users on Google Maps for its uncanny resemblance to a penis, the Mirror UK reports.

"Anyone else notice the unfortunate design of the skate park?" said Gareth Bishop, who spotted an aerial image of the popular Heol Y Goedwig skater park in Porthcawl, Wales.

Bishop is one of many who noticed the structure on Google Maps and took to social media to weigh in on the phallic architectural Rorschach.

"Only in Porthcawl would you get a tarmac beach and a cock shaped park" quipped Facebook user Sean Bugsy Bingham.

According to WalesOnline, makers of the park were quick to point out that the seemingly cockamamie design is commonly used for skate parks.

"The 'c*** and balls' design is a highly functional favourite of skateboarders worldwide" designer Ian Jennings said. "Porthcawl is certainly not unique in having its own piece of phallic skate architecture."

The Welsh skate park isn't the first architectural structure to come under scrutiny after viewed from the sky. In November 2013, the Huffington Post reported on a similar phallic resemblance of at Christian Science Church in Illinois.

Of course these observations are all in the eye of the beholder. With apologies to Sigmund Freud, "sometimes a skate park is just a skate park."
