Rapper Who Cut Penis Off was Allegedly on Drugs

The Wu-Tang-affiliate rapper who made headlines last week for an apparent bizarre suicide attempt, where he severed his penis before jumping off the second floor balcony of his North Hollywood, Calif., home, was reportedly on drugs during the time of the incident, E! News reports.

A source told the media outlet that Andre Johnson, who preforms under the moniker Christ Bearer, was under the influence of Phencyclidine, or PCP/Angel Dust, when he cut his off penis and testicles and jumped off his second story building. The source also claims that the musician used a serrated steak knife to sever his little Johnson, cutting off the tip of his penis first then removing his testicles and the remainder of his genitalia.

While some reports said that Los Angeles police found Johnson on the pavement, the source says authorities tried to talk Johnson off the balcony. The rapper said "OK" and then jumped off, according to the source, who added police found Johnson's penis upstairs.

Johnson was rushed to the hospital but doctors were unable to reattach the appendage.

Johnson is a member of the rap group Northstar, which signed to Wu-Tang's record label in the early 2000s. Rapper RZA produced Northstar's first LP.

Members of the rap group originally told TMZ Johnson was not on any drugs that would cause him to cut off his penis and attempt suicide.

Wu-Tang released a statement, saying Johnson is "not affiliated with the Wutang brand," Gawker notes.

RZA also talked about the incident in an interview with XXL.

"Christ Bearer is a part of the West Coast Killa Beez, a bunch of young guys that was signed to our company 10 years ago," RZA said. "Wu-Tang, we're from the East Coast. But we did invest in some young guys to try and help any hood. He was a guy from the hood that we gave a shot. I don't make music with him nowadays. But the story-what he did-is incredible. That shit sounds mythical."

RZA also said Johnson recently got out of jail and that he called RZA.

"I feel sad for his family first and foremost; I know he has children," he said. "I thought he was a smarter than a guy who would do something crazy like that. But at the same time, he's been in jail recently, he's been in trouble. Maybe he's mentally unstable. Maybe the mental health system should have took a look at him and said, 'You know what? We got to hold on to this guy for a little longer.' Because it's not any sanity; even if you high, this shit don't sound sane. This sounds more than high. It sounds like mental problems or something that was bothering this man's mind, and he needed help. It's sad. I send my respect out to his family."

He said the incident is "tragic" and that Johnson is a guy we gave a chance to."
