Last April, rapper Andre Johnson, a.k.a Christ Bearer, made headlines for an alleged suicide attempt where he cut his own penis off before jumping off the second-floor balcony of his North Hollywood home. The Wu-Tang Clan affiliated musician is now opening up about the bizarre incident, explaining the situation.
Johnson told E! Online (via Fox Newsk) he was under the influence of drugs at the time but says he knew what he was doing.
"Yes, I was using drugs that night, but I was in complete control," he said. "I cut it off because that was the root of all my problems. My solution to the problem was the realization that sex is for mortals, and I am a god. Those kinds of activities got me into trouble, and I came here to be a god."
He added he hasn't spoken about the incident before because, "People perceived me as crazy, so I never wanted to speak wholeheartedly on the matter."
He said doctors were not able to reattach his penis, however. Though in May, he told TMZ that he was doing well and that doctors did reattach his Johnson and that it was fully functional. He also explained back then that he was upset because he was unable to see his two daughters the morning of the incident. He's not allowed to see them because of a restraining order. He also told TMZ that he was smoking pot and reading a book about monks and vasectomies the night of the attempted suicide.
Johnson told E! he has been seeing a psychologist after he was discharged from the hospital. He added he's thankful for God when he woke up and was still alive.
"I didn't want to kill myself," Johnson said. "That was just my response to the demons. They were doing their best to get to me, but being alive solidified my thoughts. I'm alive, penis or no penis."
Johnson's rap group, Northstar, was connected with the iconic rap group Wu-Tang Clan, who produced Northstar's albums.
