Voter Turnout Appears Light for Indiana Primary

Voter turnout appears to be light as Indiana voters head to the polls for Tuesday's primary.

At one Indianapolis polling site, only about 15 people had cast ballots in the first two hours after that location opened its doors to voters.

But midterm primaries historically attract only about 20 percent of registered Indiana voters to cast in-person ballots.

A handful of state legislative contests that focused on the fight over whether to amend Indiana's constitution to ban gay marriage were expected to be Tuesday's most divisive races.

Forty-eight-year-old Ann O'Neill-Schlosser cast her ballot Tuesday at Lutheran High School on Indianapolis' southeast side.

She says she has many gay and lesbian friends who are in loving, long-term relationships and they "should have the same rights as my husband and me."
