True Blood - The Complete Series

Say what you will about some of the more questionable seasons, but "True Blood" set the standard for occult television series for adults. It explored the sex, drugs, and violence of vampires and the occult. It brought an amazing collection of actors and really established a whole different genre for fantasy. Luckily, you can now get the complete series on Blu-ray. That's 7 seasons, a ton of bonus features, and no waiting.

All 7 seasons of the series are included in this comprehensive set: The good, the bad, and the naked Joe Manganiello. The series is filled with vampires, werewolves, and not-quite-gratuitous nudity. It is so worthwhile seeing this riveting series in HD, if only for the chance to see all of your favorite sexy stars in the buff in high definition. Plus, the high-powered horror action looks great with better resolution. If magic can't be real, at least it can look it.

The bonus features of the series vary. It is mostly episode commentaries and online content. Most seasons incorporate a viral video component that are, luckily, included on the Blu-ray collection. But it's not the hugest draw if you're a huge fan of deleted scenes and gag reels.

The Blu-ray features are a little abstract. A lot of it is "enhanced viewing," which includes factoids and viral videos woven into your watching experience. This really boils down to a personal preference: Do you enjoy the additional info or do you find it detracts from the narrative structure? There are also character profiles that weave together characters by their occult race, and factoids about their connections.

Despite what may have become of "True Blood," the series provided action, suspense, and hours of entertainment. There's no reason not to want the entire series on Blu-ray. Relive all the great moments with this compelling cast of sexy actors, bizarre Southern-style drama, and horror. So why not give into temptation and take a bite?
