True Blood - The Complete Season Seven

Vanessa Williams may have sung about saving the best for last, but "True Blood's" final season sadly did not. The Blu-ray of the complete seventh season does have copious amounts of special features that kind of make up for it. You do get a thorough heartfelt good bye to the series you loved two or three seasons ago. Alan Ball also returns to discuss the series.
"True Blood" revolutionized the supernatural drama genre by adding copious amounts of sex, snark, and senseless violence. Based on Charlaine Harris' fantasy detective series, the show explored the world of vampires, werewolves, and, later, fairies through a real world lens. The series did inevitably jump the shark, so this ending is well-timed.
The Blu-ray includes the requisite goodbye featurette. "True Death: The Final Days on Set" profiles the last month on set with interviews with the cast and crew. Also interesting: Ball returns with showrunner Brian Buckner and the core cast for some roundtable discussions about the series. It's a great feature considering Ball left last season.
The Blu-ray also includes "True Blood Lines," the series' profiles of the various creatures, connections, and relationships. As it is the final season, it includes everyone in the series. There are also episode commentaries which are a little more interesting, because they factor in the end of a few years of the show.
"True Blood: The Complete Seventh Season" is the end of an era no matter how you slice it. The bonus features kind of make up for the sub-par season. However, this series is also available in the complete series which might be good for die-hard Blu-ray collectors.
