Black AIDS Institute Launches The State of Healthcare Reform in Black America
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
On September 6 at the Washington, DC Marriott Marquis Hotel, The Black AIDS Institute, in partnership with leading health and policy organizations around the country, invites you to join The State of Healthcare Reform in Black America Policy Pre-Conference at the 2017 United States Conference on AIDS.
This event will serve as the launch of the Black AIDS Institute's national policy initiative which will focus on healthcare reform and education in the Black community. This is our first call to action to raise awareness, educate, and mobilize Black communities to respond to the changing political environment.
Today, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is at grave risk, and as a result so are the advances made for Black communities and Black people living with HIV. We know that unless the calls to repeal the ACA are turned back, the country has little hope of ending the epidemic in our lifetimes. BAI's new policy initiative will identify, recruit, train, mobilize, and activate a national network of motivated Black Americans prepared and equipped to play a robust role in the current efforts to repeal and replace the ACA and any health care reform discussion that might take place in the near future.
The State of Healthcare Reform in Black America Policy Pre-Conference will take place on September 6, 2017 at the Washington, DC Marriott Marquis Hotel, 901 Massachusetts Avenue NW in the Shaw Room on Meeting Level 3. The event will begin at 8 a.m. EST, doors will open at 7:30 a.m., EST. This event is free to the public; please RSVP for this event.
