Today on 'Megyn Kelly Today': Megyn Kelly Awkwardly Cuts Off Tom Brokaw as He Slams the NRA

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Today on "Megyn Kelly Today," host Megyn Kelly went nearly gaffe-free until she awkwardly cut off Tom Brokaw as he gave a thoughtful speech about the dangers of the NRA.

In the wake of the Las Vegas shooting, which became the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, an audience member asked: "We're constantly bombarded with the news day and night. When does this become harmful to us and our children?"

Tom Brokaw said he didn't fully hear the question but nevertheless launched into a rant, slamming the NRA.

"We are where we are because of the power of people who wanted these kinds of guns, and the NRA managed to organize them and get them as a political force in America," he said in part. "So the question is, if you're not happy with what has happened, your individual obligation as a citizen is to organize on the other side."

He also added: "The NRA has a lot of money, obviously, and if you're running against the NRA... you're portrayed as a traitor against America."

During his response, Kelly interrupted the journalist so her show could take a commercial break. The moment is nothing but awkward.

"Got it. Got to leave it there, Tom," the former Fox News reporter said as Brokaw continued speaking. "Thank you to our entire panel. We're up against a hard break, apologies Tom Brokaw."

As she apologized, Brokaw kept speaking.

"Sorry, they're wrapping me hard because we got a hard break coming up," Kelly said and Brokaw finally stopped talking.

"But listen, this debate will not end now," she added. "There are people who defend the second amendment who believe you can't legislate against evil, and those who believe we have to have an honest conversation. Gotta leave it at that. We'll be right back."
