With so many digital platforms hungry to produce their own original content, Grindr has now joined the ranks with their first original series, "Bridesman." The hookup app made the announcement in a press release this week.

Created by John Oneial, "Bridesman" is an "irreverent comedy" focusing on a "gay bridesman" seeking to sabotage his best friend's wedding.

The first series order contains six episodes, each around 10 minutes in length, set to be distributed on YouTube in addition to on the popular gay dating app.

"We're thrilled to partner with John on Grindr's first foray into long-form content," said Alex Black, Grindr's Director of Marketing in a statement yesterday. "Bridesman is tailor-made for the Grindr community – it's smart, queer, campy, and features sharp commentary on gay dating, heteronormative standards, and Grindr itself. We are so proud to be showcasing some of the finest talent in the queer community as we continue to find new and creative ways to connect our users."

"It's so exciting to create something as joyous as it is gay. We're grateful that this talented team and Grindr are giving this project life," Onieal stated. "Finally we get to center the narrative on that gay in the bridal party."

Featuring the directorial talents of Julian Buchan, the comedy vehicle will also star comedians Jimmy Fowlie, Shannon Devido, Sydnee Washington.

In addition to their talents, Bridesman will also feature pop sensation Kim Petras, Liva Pierce, Benito Skinner, and Calvin Seabrooks.

In an interview with The Sun last year, Petras likely hinted at her involvement in the show, saying "I was about to do [this show] and then quarantine came around and I couldn't do it, everything got cancelled, which is annoying.

"But I think it will still happen. I don't think I could ever play anything too serious", Petras added. "I have a big passion for comedy and humor and comedic timing".

As of yet, no release date has been announced for "Bridesman," but reporting indicates that the program is set to land on the aforementioned platforms sometime this fall.
