HBO Says 'Euphoria' is its Second-Most Watched Series Behind 'Game of Thrones'

HBO announced this week that its edgy teen drama "Euphoria" is its second-most watched show since 2004, placing behind the zeitgeist-dominating "Game of Thrones," according to Variety.
"According to HBO, 'Euphoria' Season 2 episodes are now averaging 16.3 million viewers, the best performance for any season of an HBO series over the past 18 years, other than 'Game of Thrones,'" Variety said. "To date, the Season 2 premiere's viewership is approaching 19 million viewers in the U.S."
The Season 2 finale, which aired Sunday, earned 6.6 million viewers.
"Euphoria" also became the most-tweeted about show of the decade so far in the U.S., Variety noted.
The drama follows a group of teens, including Rue (Zendaya) a young teen struggling with addiction. Zendaya's performance in Season 1 earned her an Emmy Award. Created, written, directed and produced by Sam Levinson, "Euphoria" also stars Hunter Schafer, Nika King, Eric Dane, Angus Cloud, Jacob Elordi, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Barbie Ferreira, Maude Apatow, Javon Walton, Dominic Fike, Storm Reid, and Austin Abrams.
