Out singer Omar Apollo talked about preparing for a sex scene with co-star Daniel Craig in Luga Guadagnino's new movie, "Queer," UK newspaper the Independent reported.
The 6'5" "Spite" singer, who is making his feature film debut in "Queer," explained to another co-star, Drew Starkey, that he went "on the soup diet" in order to match the description of his character in the screenplay, penned by Guadagnino's "Challengers" collaborator Justin Kuritzkes.
"I lost 20 pounds because I read in the script that my character had a flat brown stomach," Apollo told Starkey during a conversation for Interview Magazine. "I was like, 'Damn, I'm actually not flat right now.'"
Apollo made it a point to say that dieting was his own idea, telling Starkey, "Luca did not tell me to lose weight, but when you're about to have a sex scene with Daniel Craig, you're like, 'Oh, dude, I can't be looking off.'"
"Starkey, who had recently seen the film, tells Apollo that the scene is 'so good' and 'very sensual,'" the Independent relayed.
"Queer" is set to premiere this evening (Sept. 3) at the Venice Film Festival, with Guadagnino and Craig in attendance.
